Summer may be coming to an end, but the fun never stops in the 11th Congressional District. These past few days were full of office openings, fairs, festivals, picnics, and service events.
I started the Labor Day weekend with the Fairfax County Democratic Committee Fall Campaign Kickoff at Sue Langley’s home in Vienna. Then I made it to both the AFL-CIO Labor Day Potluck Picnic in Alexandria and Marcus Simon and Jim Scott’s BBQ in Fairfax on Monday.
Last Thursday the Coordinated Campaign of Virginia officially opened their office in Woodbridge and I had the pleasure of welcoming them. In 2012, President Obama won Prince William County by 16 points. We must make sure that happens again this November for Secretary Clinton and Senator Kaine. Please stop by and volunteer - 13592 Jefferson Davis Hwy.
Saturday was a full day of campaigning. First stop of the day was the Burke Centre Festival. I joined the Boy Scouts Troop 1345 and Delegate Eileen Filler-Corn in the flag-raising ceremony to kick off the festival. Thanks to all of my friends and supporters that came out and volunteered their time to represent me at our campaign booth.
Next up, I attended the 34th Annual John Jenkins Crab Feast at the VFW in Dale City. Supervisor Jenkins always has a great crowd, and this year was no different.
Last, but certainly not least, I made it to the Providence District Democratic Committee’s 3rd Annual Democratic Values GOTV and Potluck BBQ. I was particularly excited for Delegate Mark Keam to (finally) put a Clinton, Kaine Connolly bumper sticker on his car. If you haven’t gotten yours yet, be sure to stop by our office and pick one up!
What a busy two weekends it was! I always enjoy meeting new and familiar constituents. The energy is high and encouraging going into these last 56 days until the election. Every day counts, and every vote matters.
